SMOSA’79 donate sports facility to St. Monica’s SHS

The 1979 year group of St Monica’s SHS, (SMOSA’79) has donated a multi-purpose sports facility court to the St Monica’s SHS at Mampong in the Ashanti Region.
The facility is estimated at GH¢75,000.00 and can be used for playing volley ball, basketball and table tennis.

It will also help the students to train in various sports disciplines to make them competitive during inter schools sports competitions.

The donation was made as part of activities to commemorate 40 years after graduating from the school and to motivate the students to take sports seriously to enhance its development.

Mrs Grace Frimpong, who spoke on behalf of the 1979 year group, told the Daily Graphic that their vision was to support the school to develop sports holistically and nurture the students to be self-confident .

“Our goal and vision is looking at sport holistically, being physical, emotional and spiritual. Engaging in sports with healthy competitive approach will help to enhance self-confidence and positive attitude among students,” she said.

Sports development

The Headmistress of the school, Mrs Esther Ntodwah, commended the 1979 year group for donating such a unique facility, saying, it would contribute to the development of the school’s sports disciplines.

She expressed appreciation to the various past old students for their tireless effort to help in carving an enviable niche for the school.

“I congratulate members of the 1979 year group on your immense contribution towards the development of your Alma Mater,” she said.
